The main premise of SILO or the overall main mystery box is very similar to that of LOST
The entire plot of SILO is a vast minefield full of mystery boxes of intrigue, which the viewer is challenged to CLAW CRAWL through. The true artistry and success of the mystery box unfolding depends on the viewer’s tolerance for how often the mystery boxes are placed and when the mystery boxes are finally opened to the audience. At the heart of SILO, the question or main mystery for the audience is: “Why is this community living in a man-made post-industrial concrete hole in the ground?” The beginning of SILO is interesting.
SILO is primarily a slow-moving, character-driven drama with some recurring themes
The “opening hook”, the sets, the acting, the production values, the cinematography are all good, if the viewer likes the whole soft tonal dystopian genre. The challenge for the viewer can be the fast-paced assembly line of constant mystery boxes and the overall slow pace of the plot. An Excel spreadsheet can also be useful for keeping track of all the mystery boxes thrown in throughout the episodes.
Some viewers may appreciate the level of detail and pacing, while others may find their attention spans challenged
